Bringing curated cook-and-serve ware together with content and recipes, on one platform.
Southern Kitchen began as a vertical at Cox Media Group before transitioning to an event and commerce platform with GateHouse Media. During that transition, I advanced from Senior/Lead Graphic Designer to Art Director.
One platform, without making people read the story before finding the recipe.
Southern Kitchen's core tension was editorial vs. utility: rich brand storytelling on one side, and a reader who just wants the recipe on the other. The redesign and supporting content had to serve both without friction.
As the team scaled through the GHM transition, I managed designers who supported marketing assets across other GateHouse properties, a junior designer, and worked directly with developers and merchandising vendors and their creative teams. My core responsibilities spanned infographic design, research and copywriting, distribution, email design, print media design, catalog design and maintenance, digital display ads, and supporting graphics across comprehensive campaigns.

Editorial and commerce, working as one system.
